Application
The final colour finish can vary considerably due to the age, type & condition of the timber being treated. We always recommend carrying out a test area first in an inconspicuous area to make sure you are happy with the final dried colour. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin.
- Barrettine Wood Preserver can be sprayed using an airless sprayer such as a Wagner or Graco ideally using a minimum 1mm flat fan tip nozzle (9 – 11 thou tip). Clean the sprayer thoroughly after application with white spirit and then oil to protect the tip and moving parts, as per manufacturer’s instructions. This product cannot be sprayed with a traditional pump action garden sprayer
- Do not apply in damp conditions or if rain is imminent.
- Apply thinly and evenly using a synthetic brush designed for solvent-borne products, in the direction of the wood grain.
- Ensure end grain is thoroughly treated along with cut and drilled areas
- 2 coats minimum are recommended.
- Low temperatures, increased humidity and composition of some wood types may increase drying time. Multiple applications will provide a darker finish and smoother wood will increase the sheen.
